My younger sister is overweight by like 30-40 pounds. My family eats pretty healthy, but nothing seems to motivate her to work out and lose weight. Whenever she feels troubled or stressed or just plain bored, she resolves to eating. What I'm looking for are ways to distract her and motivate her from eating at any occasion when in reality she isn't even hungry? Any ideas? thanks

Your sister should become pro-active which will help as far as exercising goes, along with keeping her distracted. What sports does she like? And if she doesn't like any, in particular, make it a habit to do something pro-active together. For example, my sister and i go bike riding for about half an hour to 45 min everyday. It allows time to hang out together and we actually have fun going different paths around the neighborhood. If you have a pool, swimming also helps. Becoming and staying pro-active allows you not to have to worry about going to a gym everyday.
Also- make it a habit to get up whenever you can, for example, dont be lazy and ask someone to get up and do something for you, do it youself because even if it's just to get the door, you're training yourself to be as active as you can. Little steps make all the difference, especially since they add up very quickly. (15 steps to answer the door, 10 to answer the phone, 20 to reach your dog/cat to play with them, 35 to take your clothes to and from the laundry room, etc and before you know it, youve taken 80(+) steps to do the simplest of tasks.
Now that Summer is ending, you'll all be busy with school or work and it might be a little easier to keep your mind occupied with homework and all rather than eating. Set goals for yourself so that you can concentrating on reaching that goal. If you're still in school join a sport!
As far as dieting and motivation goes:
I am always watching my weight and i've tried a diet that works really well for me, because when it comes to the way i look, i'm extremely motivated. Which is quite the oposite of school work or anything lol. Tell her to think of a diet or exersise program like this: The better i look- the more confident i'll feel, and the more i'll wanna hang out with other guy friends and stuff. >i'll have more fun when i go out with friends weather its just going to the movies or being at an amazing party.
This is the diet i used:
Breakfast: 1 multi-grain english muffin with or without all-natural jelly, and WATER. (you'll find that water is the absolute healthiest drink and if u drink enough of it, it will help fill you more and u wont have to eat as much)
Lunch: Salad [tomatos, cucumbers, etc] with grilled chicken and WATER
Dinner: Green beans/ a few slices of Smoked Salmon
This diet should only be used for a week at a time at most since it is NOT healthy to have fish every day. NO SNACKs IN BETWEEN MEALS. if u must have a snack, eat an apple or another fruit of your choice.
The first two or three days will be hard because u'll feel hungry, but if u really think about it- the actual "hunger" is a mental feeling,
This diet will help you get used to thinking that u dont truley need a lot of the food u usually eat to satisfy your hunger, so for the future u wont eat more than necessary.
I lost about 5-7 pounds in the week i tried this diet.
I know that turning down sweets and greasy foods is very difficult (trust me- i know- i absolutely LOVE anything with chocolate) but learn Discipline. Tell yoursel this: "okay, i can have a cookie or two, but if i eat it, i wont have anymore today." and live up to the promise to yourself by not eating anymore cookies. Obviously you arent going to spend your whole life refusing sweets, because lets face it- they're deliciuos. But what you can do is treat yourself. If your going out with friends for ice cream, promise yourself you'll do more exercise than usual that day and the next.

when ur sister wants to eat for no reason have eat prple grapes they fill u up and they are good for have her join a sport or a gym too loose weight fast she should run as fast as she can for a min then walk for a min do that for about 20min i promise she will see results and throw out the coke and drink ice cold water hope she listens to these tips im only 14 and have a 8 pack from just doing that
If she is looking for something to eat and you know shes NOT hungry (like after a meal), offer to do something with her. Ask if she wants to go swimming or on a bike ride or even something non-active like a craft. Show her that there are fun things to keep yourself busy other than eating.
participate in sex atleast 3 times in a week
Eat grapefruit before each meal
having less than 1 200 calories a day may slow down your metabolism

Replace chips with salad to cut carbs
