On my first test in AP Chem I received a 60. I had an average grade of an A in chem last year but AP chem is much different and very hard. If I got a 60 on the first test its only going downhill since the first one is the easiest. I'm also applying to colleges in two months so this marking period matters. Should I drop the class and take an easier class. Not necessarily something really easy but easier than AP Chem. The colleges I'm applying to range from University of Rochester, Marist, Lehigh, Upitt, and others.
Update:Colleges will only see my first semester grades. Im applying early action.

I would drop it. There's no gaurentee your colleges will take into account the difficulty of the class.
Try your hardest to get the grade. Just because you failed the first test dosnt mean you arent capable of learning the material. Try your hardest and If you fail the first semester change the course. It looks really good on college transcripts if you keep an AP course even if you are just barely passing, and it looks especially good if you start out bad but end up an A student.
Ap chem is one of the hardest ap classes
if you still want to take a class that looks good on colleges, take honors physics.
if you still want an ap, theres ap bio, ap environmental...those are a bit easier than ap chem
