partially, at my school, there is a program where varsity athletes may be exempt from one semester credit of PE.
In my belief, if a student athlete has a heavy academic and extracurricular load, and shows exemplary performance, they should be able to be exempt from some of the mandatory PE credit. However, there should be at least one semester credit of PE that is required, even for athletes because it helps them have a more well-rounded education. Being a student must always precede being an athlete, hence, they are Student Athletes.
For me, I am also a Student Athlete, and after taking almost one year credit of PE, taking more would seem very useless because I practice year-round, and am taking multiple AP courses. In the time that I am in gym, I could be doing my homework, so that I could have time to practice afterschool and on weekends. (but playing a new sport in gym inspired me to become a student athlete, and learn more about Tennis, or else I wouldn't be a student athlete now.)

no because pe teaches you everything and after school sport tries to concentrate you on one thing
