No, I do not think that athletes should be exempt from physical education because they are out for a sport. I think physical education is a class, and should be mandatory for all students. If a student was in Spanish Club voluntarily, that should not excuse them from taking Spanish classes. Or if a student was in a musical play, that should not excuse them from attending their Chorus classes.
High school that I came from, we had to have two semesters of PE. If you played a sport or was in the marching band, you only had to take one semester of PE. I feel that is fair enough.
