My high school offers two languages, French and Spanish. I love both and want to take both, but I'm afraid it will be too much to handle. My other friend is taking both and we're involved in the same extra curricular. Should I take both? Will it be too much work? I really love both.
Update:I have 8 class choices and am in mixed chorus. My classes are so far....Honors English, Algebra 2, Biology, World History, PE, and Mixed Chorus

I'd take both.
There are many similarities between the two languages so it may make it easier for you.
If you love them both and you are good at languages, go ahead!!!!
Good luck.
takeing two languages, especially both being romance languages, would get very confusing. I would seriously recommend only taking one. Also, depending on how much down time you want to have, consider that when you go to sign up for languages. But, it's ultimately up to you.
I know I only take French, but I had Spanish before at an old school. I'm still mixing words up sometimes, and it's already been 2 years since my last Spanish lesson.
Hope that helps some!
I think you should only take one, maybe you could take two years of one, then two years of the other, if you really want to learn both.
I had to make this same desicion about a month ago, but I can only take one of them because we only have six classes and I have to take math (Algerbra 2), history, science (Honors biology), english (Honors 10p), PE, and I'm in band. I'm already takeing PE in the morning, before school. I choose French, because it is easier to learn and I am taking honors english, honors biology, and algerbra 2. Also, yes I know that Spanish is more common in the US, but French is more common in the world, approximetly 1/2 the world speaks French.
Hope this helps!!! :~)
If You Love both, take both. There Just going to teacj you the basic at first anyways. I think that you can handle to love both because first of all, you claim to love to learn both french and spanish so more your interested, the better. The second reason is that because that if you can learn both at once, that means that you can learn any other languages like italian, japanese, chinese, latin, or other langauges.
I say go for it. Its your choices anyways so do it.
Take one and then start on another the year after if you still feel like you want to juggle two languages. It'd be better to have a head start in one so you don't get confused and flip-flop between them as easily.
I took both at the same time and I found it a little confusing...because the languages are so similar and the pronunciations are quite different.
If you love both, take both. I've found that when you take classes that you enjoy, the work tends to be easier. It'll also really help that your friend will be taking them along with you. I say go for it!
It really depends...if you think u will get mixed up b/t the two then take one for the first two tems and switch to the other for the last two terms. if you don't think it will get con fusing then doo them a t the same time. good luck w/ your choice!
You can take Spanish as your language. Then, pick French as an elective or vice versa.
It won't be that bad if you have them in different semesters.
If you love it, take both.
Spanish and French are related languages. This should make it easier.
