I'm considering using a venue in Bannister, MI for my wedding next summer. I'm not familiar with the area and haven't found many chain hotels online (aka names that I recognize!). I saw some hotels there when I went to visit but didn't recognize the names. Is anyone familiar enough with Bannister, MI to tell me if there are nice-ish hotels in the area? They don't have to be 5 star, I just don't want to send my guests to motels.

Yeah, there are no hotels in Bannister Michigan, or Alma or St. Louis. Your best bet if you need a lot of rooms is Mt. Pleasant.
There are a couple of places in Chesaning (Brass Bell and Bonnymill), which is about 20 minutes away that would be nice, because it's a cutesy town.
I can't think of anything in St. Johns that you'd want to stay in, though.
I had to look at Yahoo Maps to see where Bannister is. (To those who might follow, it's a little bit east of US-127 north of St. Johns.) There may be some acceptable places in Alma, I'm just guessing. Perhaps you should make another road trip to check out some places for yourself, or look into an alternate location.
There is next to nothing of interest in,
That area.
