If the Show Desktop icon is deleted from Quick Launch, the procedure below will recreate the file.
Open Notepad and enter the following text:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear.
To place shortcuts on the Quick Launch Bar next to the Start button:
If the Quick Launch bar is not visible in Windows XP, right-click the Task bar and choose Properties. On the Taskbar tab, place a check mark next to Show Quick Launch. Click Apply and then click OK.
Make sure the Taskbar area is unlocked: right-click a blank area on the Taskbar. If there is a check mark to the left of ‘Lock the Taskbar,’ click this to unlock the Taskbar.
To add an icon to the Quick Launch area, click the shortcut on the desktop (shortcut icons have a black arrow inside of a little white square located in the lower left corner of the icon) and drag them to the Quick Launch bar.
If desired, the original shortcuts on the desktop can then be deleted: right-click the desktop icon and click Delete.
To lock the Taskbar when you are finished moving the shortcut icon to the Quick Launch area: right-click a blank area of the Taskbar and click ‘Lock the Taskbar.’
Drag it down from where? I have no clue.
The only thing I can suggest is to make a shortcut of the Desktop folder, and then put that in Quick Launch. It's not a perfect solution, but it'll do until you find your answer.
1- Creat the shortcut on your desktop.
2- Rightclick on the taskbar and uncheck "lock the taskbar".
3- Drag the shortcut tothe Quick launch>
4- Rightclick on the taskbar and check "lock the taskbar".
Drag is back down to the QuickLaunch toolbar. Pretty simple.
