To rent, well, rents in Manhattan are very high, so a little tiny one-room studio apartment in a remote part of Manhattan might go for, say, $1000 a month if you're lucky, and you'll be one of dozens of people who show up for it, so be careful, a big scam here is to take security deposit money from, like, a dozen desperate people for the same apartment and then split with the cash!
To buy, you're probably looking at a minimum of $500K in Manhattan for a 1-bedroom apartment. And, it's not easy to get into these buildings either, you have to apply and go through a rigorous interview and financial audit process to be accepted, too!
Good luck, and the link below is to a webpage about what it really costs to live in New York City...
well it kinda depends what you want.....if you want a nice lavish pent hour apartment it could probly cost about 25000 but if u want a smelly tiny studio right on the street that could cost about 1000 dollars a month i suggest finding something nicer in brooklyn or staten island cuz ur still clost to the city

If you need to ask here you probably can't afford it.
To quote I figure I would be very surprised if you can find anything, like a tiny studio flat, at less than $1000 per month + utilities
