I just got a quote on top dentures (with 11 teeth pulled) it was over 2000 dollars ..might be why this old ladys keeping her teeth even if they wear down to nubs :(
Just getting your teeth pulled and dentures doesn't mean your problems will be over. Often dentures do not fit correctly. The lowers may not even stay down. The muscles in the face can fight to keep the denture in place, whether that be eating, speaking and even smiling. The upper covers the pallet and can cause gagging, lose of food taste and sores. Try and save your teeth if you can. Once your teeth are gone they are gone. Yes dental implants are expensive but combine this with a good set of dentures (should you go this route) and your smile will be picture perfect for the rest of your life.
I have dental implants because I did my home work and realized the problems with having dentures. I have a fixed smile and do not remove my teeth but floss and brush them like natural teeth. The bone will begin to deteriorate once all the teeth are gone. But dental implants even as little as 2 to hold a denture stable will save your bone.
Please do your homework before you just get them pulled. Dentures are also only as good as the technician who makes them. You may be really fortunate and get a really good technician and your teeth fit perfectly right away with no problems. But you might get a set of dentures that are impossible to wear. You might gag, choke and have much difficulty eating. Read this link before choosing to get your teeth just pulled and get dentures. I did and I am glad I did.
If you had an appointment at my office, here are the fees you'd be quoted:
Initial Exam................ $ 47
Full Set of Xrays... $105
Full Upper Denture $1075
Full Lower Denture $1075
Extractions...........$95 each
The denture fees include any post-op adjustments. The extraction fees are for 'easy' extractios, and not 'surgical' ones. Relines, which are usually done 6 months after the denture insertion(s), are $275.
If you don't have dental insurance, a 10% discount is applied to the entire fee, and we do payment plans.
Generally having new dentures are ussually expensive , but then again it depends on the country where you are, and by the way, dentures can be categorized into different materials..like if youwant the simple dentures..ther ivory material is expensive.....just do the extraction first then find out later if you can still afford the whole upand down gentures.........but generally I said........it canbe expensive, maybe there are some clinics with lower quotas....go and check it out , ok???
