If he is a well established lawyer in Brazil, then he could easily make USD $250,000 a year or more. Starting pay for lawyers in Brazil is usually only a few thousand a month but for talented and experienced lawyers, especially on the corporate side, the pay is very high.

I have a friend who just graduated law school in Brazil and she makes around $1500 a month but is expected quite a pay increase after her first few months with the firm.

When I lived in Brazil, about 25 years ago, I made 3,000 a month and I spent my money traveling around.

I helped the poor people and didnt charge them any money. I just charged from the ones that could pay. Now I live in the US and I am a Portuguese teacher / translator and I make double ...but it is not much cause it is 25 years after! ;(

Kinda US$ 5,000.00 if he/she's a well-known lawyer. However, most of them is not and I believe that most earns in about US$ 3,500.00 or less painfully, because there are too many lawyers and it will depend on the area: if it's civil, criminal, tributary etc.

I have a friend living and studying in Europe. His father is maintaining him from Brazil. I believe they're from Rio. How much can his father earn sa a lawyer in Rio approximately? :)
