How were John Stuart Mills and Karl Marx's views alike and different?
I understand both of their basic philosophies but I'm having a hard time coherently comparing and contrasting them. I know Mill was pro-free market which is obviously drastically different than Marx but as far as more broad ideas like personal liberty both On Liberty and the Manifesto are blurring together.

Marx based his philosophy on the works of Hegel - or so he claimed. Hegel, would not have been in complete agreement this was the case, however.
John Stuart Mill was not impacted by the works of Hegel.
