At what age do most companies start sending ads, should I be worried that they're sending it to me now? -15- Is my name on some list? I mean in the past I've mistaken the year of birth on email addresses but I don't think that matters.........
any insight would help thanks!
Update:yeah. I don't plan on applying, nor can I think of anything I bought where I gave my name...

If you gave your name when you bought something, you were put on a mailing list. The store probably sold that list and you got the credit application.
You have to be 18 or older to legally be responsible for a card by yourself. I believe if a parent or guardian co-signs, then a younger person can get one (the adult becomes legally responsible for any charges).
Edit:
If you're worried, go to annualcreditreport.com and follow the instructions. Everyone can look at their credit information for free once every year (don't sign up for any credit monitoring as you go through it.) Have your parents do it with you to be sure you do it OK though.
Having your age, it'd be interesting to see what they have on you now.
You must not have any negative marks on your credit report.
I'll go you one better: My mother received one at my address after she was dead. I sent the application back indicating she was dead and had no income and was issued the card.
My wife's dog received a brochure from US Navy Recruting. I sent it back stating that obedience school was the dog's highest level of education. The Navy was looking for high school graduates so he did not qualify.
My daughter received a pre-approved card when she was 6 months old...how that happened I'll never know.
They give those out to everyone.
