I have a pellet gun .177 and 1200 fps breakbarrel. It was a clean head shot from about 20 yards and dropped frozen out of a tree. I went and retreived it and it was dead not breathing or anything. We took it back to the house and my friend went to get the knife out to clean it and im outside with it. It begins to freak out on the ground and squirming and screaming. I took it to the grass and shot it in the head again and it starts creaking out further. My friend comes back out and chops its head off. Upon further inspection I found that the hollow point pellet went through its head into the heart and into the spine. Was it just its nerves or was it actually alive?

Do tell.
I love hearing made-up stories.
ummm if it went threw the head, then it couldnt have went into the heart and spine. it was nerves, because you said you were using hallow points correct? and you shot it in the head? you most likely blew the skull and brain to ****, which thus killed it instantly. i do not reccomend .177 for any type of serious hunting, buy a .22 or larger caliber (i like the benjamin titan in .22 and iv dropped 3 squirrels and 3 rabbits and multiple birds with mine since i got it a month ago) also, your gun was rated with pba ammo, which is very bad for hunting, because they are highly inaccurate and light. your gun is most likely 800 fps with real lead pellets, witch is not ideal for hunting
I shot one at a fairly long distance with my Sheridan 5mm when I was a kid. They were all over the place in my neighborhood. I hit it square in the head. I picked it up with a shovel and put it in our garbage can. A few hours later, my mom SCREAMED! The squirrel must have just been knocked out because this bloody squirrel jumped out of the can right at my Mom and ran away down the driveway. I didn't tell her this story until I was about 30. I learned that 50 feet was about the max effective range for a clean kill.
The nerves can do that. Sounds gross. Never heard of eating squirrel meat though. Can't afford chicken or turkey?
Seriously? Depends where you hit it in the head, but the head, heart and spine don't line up in that order... unless it was contemplating its navel at the time. If you shoot it through the brain it won't do anything else. If you shoot it in the heart it is dead in ten seconds, even a 177 puts a big enough hole in a squirrel to cause it terminal damage with a chest shot, I have shot a fair few.
So... are you sure it wasn't a zombie squirrel? If you are a troll you are wasting your time, nobody cares about tree rats.
So you're telling us you fail as a hunter?
Guess it's time for you to embrace being a vegan, then.
dont listen to them you just made the nerves come up and thats what happens 75% of the time to me so yeh you made a clean kill so you wasted a second bullet though lol
This is what happens when little idiots use toys to hunt with.
Well whatever it was you sure do sound like a nice little guy.
