1. He was only dead for a few hours and then brought back to life.
2. He suffered but only as much as the two other guys who were being crucified at the same time.
3. And thousands of other innocent people also suffered the pain of crucification just like He did.
4. And when it was over he went up to be with his Dad.
5. And when it was over he got to live in Heaven as a God, himself.
6. And Jesus was never in any real danger because his Dad was watching out for him.
7. And it was all a planned event - it didn't just happen unexpectedly.
Then, in all seriousness, it doesn't seem like Jesus really died or really suffered. And his Dad didn't really "give his only begotten son" since his Son came back to live with him after only a long weekend.
As Julie Sweeney said, "Jesus had a really bad weekend for my sins".
So what was the big deal????

exactly, the real sufferers are those others who've been on the cross and never got back. If my dad was god and waiting for me in heaven, I wouldn't mind a day of beating and being crucified.
1. Jesus was dead for 3 days, He wasn't in a temporary coma or anything like that. He actually died.
2. The other two thieves were not beaten beyond recognition, nor did they experience the full wrath of God for mankind's sins, nor has anyone ever been beaten and abused through crucifixion as Jesus was.
3. see 2.
4. Yes, Jesus rose from the dead
5. Jesus is God, the only one true, living God.
6. At the moment of His death, Jesus was separated from the Father
7. Yes it fulfilled many prophecies, uniquely.
To say that Jesus did not really die or suffer is to believe in a lie.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1) Didn't happen. Read John 19:1-35
During a roman Crucifixion, one of thwe "executioners" was designated to examine the bodies still on the cross. If the body was still alive, it's leg were broken. Due to the nature of crucifixion, this would have caused the already-weakend victim to collapase on the cross, and die of suffocation.
The "executioner" found Jesus to be dead, so his legs were not broken. But just to be sure, the soldier poked Jesus with a spear, puncturing his heart. The 'water" that ensued is a clear sign of congestivne heart faliure (bodily fluids colelcted in the pericardial sac) and the blood shows that the heart was indeed punctured.
JESUS WAS VERY VERY DEAD!
2) Doesn't matter how much He suffered. He was dead before they were! Again in John 19, the same ":executioner" found the two theives to be alive, and broke their legs. thus, THEY died of suffocation.
3) Not thousands. Crucifixion was an an expecuially violent form of death, reserved for "special" prisoners, not for mere "masses" of people. Primary victims were deserters and enemies of the state.
4) ok. i give you that one
5) Note, though, that He FIRST had to remain on earth, giving testimony of His death and Resurrection.
6) No. Jesus was REJECTED by God while He was on the cross. this is why He cried out, some time before He died:
"And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ... 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' " [Mark 15:34]
Jesus himself, the one man whose brain was TOTALLY tuned to God, found Himsefl to be rejected! Some theologians think that this was necesasry so that Jesus can experience EVERYTHING that mortal humans experience -- even the total hopelessness of Hell.
7) Yes, it was planned. From before the beggining of the World, God had a plan that could allow ANYONE to enter into Heaven. Still, that plan required GOD to make the ultimate sacrifice, the sacrice that he wouldn't even allow Abraham to continue. The real beauty is this: God love you SOO MUCH that, instead of deatrioying you compeltely, like an ant under your foot, He followed through with His plan, sacrificing His Son instead of punsishing you.
it is a big deal because it was planned to prove to YOU that God loves even you.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. " [John 3:16}
God did not HAVE to do anything for you. He is more than a dad, he is God. If the King of a random country laid down his life or his sons life willingly to give one of his citizens an opportunity to be saved, wouldn't you see that as an incredible sacrifice? Well it is GOD or everything. Our creator. Gave His only son to die for us. That was Jesus' life purpose. To show us God's incredible merciful love. Jesus was not just crucified like the others. He has tortured and beaten like no other human before or after. He should not have survived having his body ripped open multiple times. flesh being torn from his sides for hours. After He was in more pain than anyone could imagine, THEN he was crucified like others were. Crucifixion was the most horrible way to die because not only are you hanging your entire body weight on two hands and trying to push up on the hole in your feet with crushed bones, but it is hard to breath with your chest spread that way. Crucifixion was the most torturous way to die. And God did it willingly because of His extravagant love for each of us. God knew exactly what was going to happen, and yet it still happened. It was the only way for a just God to overlook our sins. Without Jesus, there would be not opportunity to be with Him in heaven. The penalty for sin in death. The penalty for sin with Jesus' perfect sacrificial blood covering our sin, is life.
Well, trust me, he suffered. The way the cross kills someone is that to breathe, you must draw up your arms. Well, in the case of a crucifizion, the people's hands were nailed in, so they had to basically rip their hands to breathe. Eventually, they would be so exhaused, they couldn't do it anymore, and they would suffocate. Keep in mind, he was also whipped to the point of his bones showing, and had thorns hammered into his head. Yes, he had God with Him, but when he took all the sins of the world onto himself, God himself had to look away. In fact, at one point, Christ cried out: "Father, father why have you forsaken me?" Trust me, he suffered. Yes, the people around Him suffered as well, however, they were all being punished. You see, Christ went through life without ever sinning, even once. Ever gotten in trouble for something you didn't do? Think of how bad that felt. Now imagine being whipped, beaten, spit on, thorns hammered into your head, and finally killed in a slow, excruciatingly painful death? In fact, it was so painful, they had to create a new word to describe it. The word "excruciating" actually means "of the cross." So, He suffered quite a bit, just for us. Would you do the same thing for people you didn't even know? Would you do it for the very people who did it to you? I'll be praying for you.
Yes, others have been tortured, others have been put to death for crimes they didn't commit. Nobody else however, has had to endure the weight of the world's sins on their shoulders. Christ died for our (the world's) sins - every person who ever lived or will live. That burden is unfathomable to me. Most of us know the oppressiveness of a guilty conscience when we've done something we know is very wrong. That alone is enough for us to seek relief to get rid of the heavy burden. When we carry the burden of someone else's guilt on our shoulders the burden gets heavier - almost crushing us. Can you imagine carrying the weight -- the sin -- of the whole world on your shoulders? That's what Christ did for us, even though He himself was perfect and sinless.
Yea, but don't forget Jesus was human and not part God. At the end of his life, his father took away his protective shield and that was why Jesus said " My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46) And his dying words breathe heartfelt love and trust: “Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit.”—Luke 23:46.
This death of a perfect creation of God needed to be done to show all intellegent creatures that OBEDIENCE to God can be done successfully. Jesus accomplished what Adam failed at.....that is...." a creature created by God WILLING to submit to HIM because he loves HIM just like Jesusdid as the GREATER ADAM. That is why Jesus is our example to follow and why God loves him so much. Jesus was in the grave for part of 3 days. It would have been extremely scary for him to be dead and away from his father, he would have to soley rely on his father to raise him out of the grave.......THAT IS WHAT WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND. We need to understand that we have to rely on God too...even til death,...and have faith that his promises will come true....like the resurrection of the dead and God promises everlasting life on earth if we are obedient to him till the end......Matt 24:13; John 17:3; Ps 37:11,29; Matt 5:5
Jesus is not died. He is still alive and he will be back as a Masiha
Quran: Surah 3 (Ãl 'Imrân)
3:55 Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.
