I have a 1993 BMW 325i and when I put my key in the ignition and turn it. It turns almost all the way back around(like a 360 degrees). My mechanic it maybe one of these 2 parts. I have two questions.
1. What part where you stick your key in. What part is that?
2. Which part do you think went bad?

We see this problem all the time. The BEST (and BEST with BMW = Expensive) is to change the ignition lock cylinder; the ignition lock housing; and the matching key. Commonly, the ignition lock housing is what defects. You won't know for sure until you remove the housing (which in itself is fun to get to.) You're gonna need a 16mm socket (steering wheel) a circlip remover (steering column) a chisel (fracture head bolt) and a screwdriver (lug bolts). Have fun, best of luck, best regards and all that good crap.
The lock cylinder is areas shop attainable ,As for the ignition change no count if that's not on suited of the column with a rod taking place to it ,it would then be related or mated to the lock cylinder making it probable a broker section . verify for nicely matched section with different vehicle form and years .
The part you stick the key in is the lock cylinder, and it's probably what went bad. Take it to a dealer or a locksmith.
