Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to work with something that has to do with airports, airlines, airplanes and traveling .
So I've decided that maybe I should become a flight attendant/stewardess. I don't know if I could be able to become a pilot because it costs alot to go to flight school and you have to be really smart.
I'm only 15 but I'm really thinking about my future.
is being a flight attendant / stewardess a good job ? does it pay well ?
Do you guys have any ideas on what else I could be that involves airline, airplanes, airports or traveling ? :)
thanks, and have a wonderful day/evening. :)

I think it would be an interesting job. Being a pilot would honestly be a hard job with a lot of pressure on you, since you control the plane. Flight attendant is relatively easy, I'm assuming, because all you have to do is make sure people get seated with luggage stowed, recite safety info, pass out snacks, make sure everyone's safe, etc. Sometimes you will have to deal with bad passengers, which probably isn't fun. I assume it would pay a good amount of money because you're constantly flying and dealing with passengers, etc. Air traffic controllers are also well paid. In fact, I was reading an article that listed that job in the top ten highest paying jobs you don't need to go to college for. Of course, a college degree would make you more likely to be employed, but technically you don't need one. You could also be a gate agent or ticket counter agent, although I don't know how well that pays.
Just ask Stephen Slater! haha kidding. ;)
I am the same way except I chose to be a flight dispatcher (its really fun), because I could not afford flight school. Look it up. It is not expensive to get your license, you get flight benefits, and you can even ride in the flight deck on commercial flights. Dispatchers do a lot of things but the gist of it is that we create flight releases, flight plans, study the weather and make sure our flight is routed around it, do the weight and fuel calculations (done by computer!), and LOTS more. There are only 2 people in the entire world that have control of a commercial part 121 flight and that is the pilot in command and the dispatcher. If I say I don't want to release the flight, it does NOT go.. no matter what the pilot says. And the same goes for the pilot. No one else can decide whether a flight goes or not. I like having that kind of control. ;)
As for flight attendants, when you start out, it will probably be with the regionals and it will not be much pay. But if you keep at it you can progress to the mainline carriers and start making some good money. You will be gone a lot if you are a flight attendant, be prepared for that.
Good for you for loving aviation!!
ahaha @ Kristin, I was about to say the same thing!
Can't comment about being a flight attendant. My mother used to be and she hated it but a) it was the 1960's and b) she has a massive problem with authority so....... (lol)
Maybe look into working for an airline? Even if only at the airport. That way you could get a feel for things and if you liked it, then maybe look into being a flight attendant?
The pay starts out low, but you generally get your first raise after 6 months. Many airlines will allow you to pick up additional trips for extra money.
The best place to apply is direct on the airline's website. By the time you become 18- the minimum age, there may be more airlines hiring.
