I would like to know other peopls opionions and thoughts on this. I personally believe that junk food shouldnt be banned in schools. I think banning junk food and putting in healthy food is only limiting their options, not teaching them what they should and shouldnt eat. Also, kids should be taught how to eat healthy and how to be physically active to prevent obesity. Depleating junk is only restricting what they can eat in school, like I said previously. My last point is that, schools also feed kids fried chicken, pizza, and cheesburgers. This food can be just as bad as chips and candy. Those are just some of my supporting details. What is your opinion on this topic?

i think it stinks because i am an educator and when i am dying for a pepsi and a candy bar in the middle of the day there is no where for me to buy one in the school just because they have taken away my right to choose if i wanna be fat or not.i am an adult, a staff member and i cant even buy junk...if i wanna get fat and die then let me,,its my body and my life...ugghhhh dont even get me started...i am also a parent and i think my child shoud get the choice as to what he buys and eats...but i dont want to get on my soap box here,...
Firstly, I agree with taking out junk food. The school/government has a duty of care to provide safe and healthy food to its students. Secondly, why the hell are you bringing up communism? It has nothing to do with what you eat at school. Thirdly, as for the comment, “it goes against human rights” that is complete and utter crap. It goes against human rights to provide unhealthy food and promote obesity, heart disease, a whole range of cancers, joint and bone problems etc. Children are not always capable of making the best decisions either. It would be better if they took away the junk food and educated the kids about the importance of healthy eating and exercise, as well as an appreciation of food and basic cookery skills. And stop crapping on about how you’re a free country. It’s what gives Americans such a bad reputation overseas. The government can tell you what to eat and they do. They have for as long as they have been providing school lunches to you. If you’re so worried about no junk food, bring it yourself.
Would you support mental abuse from a teacher?
Or physical abuse from the sport teacher?
how abut air pollution in the form of carbon monoxide poured into the air?
How about moving the school 40 miles away and only accessible by walking ther?
By the time the kids arrive you'd be so tired you'd have to sleep.
That is the same kind of damage that junk poisonous food does to a body.
If youthink that a human brain is not badly affected by MSG, red food coloring ( which is proven to produce epliepsy and erratic behavior), HFCS, sugar in five different ways and even more processed white four and sugar that you get eating bad quailty food at lunch the you are seriously misled.
It's not healthy, it kakes you fat \and seriously, why bother in the first place?
What is wrong with eating right?
What is right eating wrong?
There is little point in saying that since the schools already feed kids cheeseburgers that you may as well finish off any hope you have by ensuring they get poisonous snacks too- that is just defeatist and overlooking positivity.
Where I am from, the notion of junk food doesn't even exist, so there IS not telling them what they should't eat- if you allow thing, then there is awareness of them.
Junk food isn't "food" it's like poison. WHy not get normal cheese, normal fruit, normal bread, what is the point of eating fattier, more sugary stuff?
Well I'll tell you- the only reason these foods came about in the first place was to make them last longer on the shelf, to make them spread out by bulking them up with HFCS and preservatives.
No compnay started making food to call it
"junk" food, that is just a label that came about later.
If they had their way ALL those companies would actually make real burgers, with real meat, and real chicken which DIDN't use reconsituted crap like beaks and eyeballls in the nuggets.
All those companies that make this "food" don't want to make "junk" food, they claim their food is healthy, full of protein and stuff.
So are you saying that they don't want REAL chicken in the nuggets or real beef in the burgers?
Of course they do. The only reason schools use crappy junk foo d is that it is cheap.
Oh, and so that it sells, they fill it with HFCS, to make it sweeter and sugar to make it palatable and make you come back for more- addiction.
In the meantime, cheap, poor people go to fast food places to have a luahg and eat cheeseburgers for $3. You have fun with your friends, and get a kick out of the cheap, sugary pap that you are eating.
Therein your addiction is laid down- you want to eat the same thing as all your friend, and it's cool, to go get that little plastic container with fries and "chicken"nuggets in it.
That is the only reason people eat the crap - it's very cheap, it's sweet and bland, and it's soft food.
So, congratulations is you have fallen victim to the McDonalds mindset of cheap plasticky burgers and chips.
You have been brainwashed into the trap- you're right, it IS fun, it IS decent food. And yes, you DO know how to eat healthy if and when you please.
SO, why don't you then??
Bombarding with daily awareness of it makes you know about it as a normality, and that is wrong= you start to think it's just food the same as salad and soup.
It is definitely not.
Kids don't even care actually, they just eat what is there.
My opinion is that it is good that they banned junk food, But not happy about the school selling fried food and burgers (you are correct, that is just as bad, and even worse because junk food is only a snack. Fried food and burgers are actually called meals and meals are mandatory. Snacks are optional. Many kids do not bring lunches, and have to buy those terrible meals.) If the school sells junk food also, them that is even more junk going into their body. It has been shown studentss who keep away from unhealthy foods are more successfull in school and concentrate better.
Some kids are just too irresponsible to feed themselves the healthier choices. (Seriously, some kids even do drugs and don't care; although this is not food related.) Sometimes you have to MAKE them go on the right track.
However, I do partially agree with you. The schools usually make several different choices of lunch per day, such as pizza and salad in two separate lines. The kids can just choose by themselves... if they care. But it seems as if they don't, since almost 30% are either obese or overweight. They're screwing themselves over, so other people have to step in.
My middle school hasn't banned junk food, but has healthier options like sandwiches and salads rather than pizza and bagels. I think that the school shouldn't totally ban junk food because for us that's what tastes good! If we were forced to eat the sandwiches all the time no one would even want to spend their money on that! Our schools shouldn't be so concerned about our health that they need to totally ban junk food because we're old enough to take care of ourselves.
Junk food is look interesting than healthy food, its more color full and testier because they put more salt, sugar and msg. once the test it they will addict to it, so better ban, you can teach your children at home what is good or what is bad food, do not hope that teacher hove time to teach every thing. Pizzas and burgers and fried chicken at least contain protean but nothing good in chips and candy.
