Sometimes, if you don't turn the key all the way, it doesn't go far enough around to get the key back in the next time. Call your ortho, or regular dentist if they did it, and let them know. They can usually fix it, and if they can't, they will remove it, rotate it, and recement it back. It happens all the time to lots of people.
Just make sure you let them know! If you go the next 16 days without turning it, it will you will set back your treatment progress.
