Large amounts of protein in the urine are a sign that there are a lot of dead cells (usually bacteria) there... which almost always means UTI. Kidneys are *part* of that system and they might be involved... and there are tests that can determine whether there's infection of one or both kidneys (leading to malfunction and chemical change), or if it's just isolated to the ureters, bladder and/or urethra.
You'e obviously already been to the doc and had a urine sample tested... got lab results and still waiting for a diagnosis?
EDIT:
OHHHH! Well, then...

SECOND EDIT:
I have no idea whether the amount of protein found in urine has any relation to where the indicated infection (or other pathology) might be. :-(
I'm human (and I have an 8th grade education, at least officially) and I'm therefore limited to what I've learned on my own.
FINAL POKE IN THE RIBS:
Awwwww....
You're just saying that because I chose a cute nym, right?

Chris the nurse was full of poop! a uncircumcised penis does not cause this. your doctor will run tests to see how your kidney is functioning then treat you accordingly curtdude uncircumcised dude
Please seek medical attention in this matter. I have known it to mean that there are some serious kidney problems. That being said, a doctor would tell you for sure.
I have no idea. Tyr talking to your doctor about it. Or looking it up on webmd.com Good luck
