Hand wash wool in luke warm water with Woolite.
Then don't soak wool in it.
If the label says good for soaking heavily soiled garments before laundering. Do not soak wool, spandex, silk, or fabrics that are not colorfast.
If may have bleach in it.
It is best to wash wools in cold water and if in a washing machine on the delicate cycle and cool dryer , not hot or it will shrink.
Get another detergent that says safe for certain fabrics such as wool.
Wool will shrink in the washing machine anyway. Wool pants and most wool sweaters need to be dry cleaned anyway.Check the label to see if you can hand-wash it. Then use baby shampoo to wash it, unless it specifies something else. gl!
I understand that different chemicals in soaps/detergents will harm wool as it is a "living" material, such as silk. I would use Woolite or a low phosphate soap. I can't tell you why, I just read this somewhere along the way.
Try woolite or put your washer setting on delicate. I wouldn't use it if its not for wool, the detergent.
