Jonathan Haidt (himself a liberal and an atheist) published a study showing liberals are the least likely political group to understand different perspectives. And the more liberal a person is, the less able he or she is to understand opposing viewpoints.
libertarians seem to focus on extremely small gov. and tons of freedoms for everyone... the only problem is... there are usually reasons for a lot of the laws we have.. they just weren't made up on the fly and with no thought... and many of the same problems that prompted the laws would return if the laws were removed...
while it is an extreme example, yelling fire in a theater isn't a freedom that I want people to have... there are reasons we have those laws... there are many similar, yet less obvious examples where libertarians want to remove these restrictions in the name of, as the name implies, liberty
False. Disagreeing with you is not the same as not understanding you. This insistence libertarians have of pretending everyone who disagrees with you somehow doesn't get it is a big part of the reason you struggle to sell your ideology. Respecting those you are trying to convert instead of routinely insulting them would be something you should give a try.
Depends on the Liberal really or anyone else. Some people know what it is, some people don't. From what I have seen on this site. Hardly anyone knows what Libertarianism even is.
That's the trouble, many of the "tea celebration" are not true libertarians. They aren't outspoken sufficient about ending the wars, closing international navy bases, ending the drug battle, and so forth. The movement has often been taken over by non-libertarian who have most likely on no account heard of Hayek, Mises, or Rothbard let on my own read something by means of them.
