So I started to do crunches to get a little bit more in shape but every time i start to do crunches I get a really sharp pain in my lower back. It is on the left and the right side a little bit up from where the spine meets with the hip area. After I feel this pain come and I stop I can barely breath for a few seconds because the pain is really bad. This doesn't occur only when I do crunches. I have been trying to work around my back pain by doing leg lifts and I get the same pain. Does anyone have any advice or any explanation to why this is happening.
Thanks for your help.

When I played volleyball I had similar pain. Volleyball is a very up and down sport that puts a lot of strain on your lower back. My trainer told me that I most likely pulled something and that the constant activity of volleyball practice/games didn't give a good chance to heal. He also said that when I slept at night, there was a good chance that my body wasn't sleeping in a natural position, which mean there wasn't sufficient healing going on.
He had me sleep with a bed pillow and after a while, I felt a difference. When my body slept in a natural position, it had that chance it needed to repair itself. It might be something you can at least look into. I'll put a link to what I'm talking to in the sources section.
Hope this helps and I hope that you feel better!
Hi,
I understand this pain, I had these back pains after skiing. Many things could have caused this lower back pain: hurting your back while doing crunches, not stretching enough or anything else. I recommend you a natural treatment for ending this bad lower back pain and allowing your body to heal its self: after taking only few capsules of “I-Live Pain Free” you will immediately feel the difference. These capsules are based on a revolutionary formula of all-natural ingredients: horsetail, celery, Vitamin D, Garlic, Stinging Nettle and B Complex. When combined together they reduce inflammation, pain and can also help heal. I am confident this will help.
Hope I was of help to you! Good luck!
