I want to be a Marine Biologist, I live in Illinois. What are some colleges close to me, what are the best out of those, and what is the best college in the US for Marine Biology?
If you want a college close to you, there aren't going to be very many that have marine biology degrees. If you want to stay close to home, I would recommend going somewhere that has a good biology program and then going somewhere by the ocean for your master's/PhD. It honestly doesn't matter where you get your undergraduate degree from, as long as they have a solid science curriculum. But if you do want to do a marine biology degree, here are some colleges that have really good programs...
Here's the thing about marine biology - there really aren't many jobs in the field if you don't have a PhD in marine bio, and the best way to get one is to major in bio at a good school and then do marine bio in graduate school. Marine bio majors often don't prepare you well for graduate school in anything, and aren't offered at the best schools for that reason. But if you must, find a college on the water. Roger Williams University in Rhode Island has a pretty strong program in marine bio.
