for people with mental illness i know that they have special school but i would like to know if enrolling them in that special school would cost more than enrolling them in a public school? and if so does it cost a lot?

Any school that isn't a regular public school costs money, how much depends on the school. However, if you can prove that you can not function or learn in a public school, the school might pay your tuition for an alternative school.
Hire an advocate (the ones employed by the school tend to bias things so the school won't have to pay tuition for you, because it's expensive). And see what you need to do. If you are determined to be eligible for alternative schools, they will pay, it won't cost you anything, I think most schools even provide a bus.
However, if testing finds you to not qualify for that, you will pay out of pocket, and it could be up to $20,000 a year. You may qualify for assistance, depending on household income, but I'm not sure if private schools do that or not.
As far as I know mental schools cost as much and in some instances more than other schools.
