Hi,
Was using my Advent computer (dont know the model), when it suddenly died. If I unplug it for about five minutes, then plug it back in, I can get the fan to start spinning and the front LEDs to come on for a couple of seconds, then it just dies. I am tempted to ring up PC World and tell them to come and get it but then I'm going to be without it for a fortnight so I would rather I could fix it myself.
Thanks in advance
Matt
Update:I'm also on my old PC now. Which is rubbish.

The PSU is generally the first port of call for non-starters, as the cheapskate PSU used in most systems is pretty flaky.
Another thing is to look with the side panel off, and see if the CPU fan spins up - if the CPU fan is stalled, that can be set to force a shutdown.
If it's still under warranty though, let them deal with it, even if it is going to take a while.

Look in in your local paper, there are lots of people who repair conputer for a liveing and some are very cheap, it may be better in the long run to get one of them to come and look at it, they will probably be able to repair it at your home, so you won't have to be with out a computer.
I think it's just the battery of your CMOS. It only last 3-5 years. Try to change it and boot your PC
Did you kick it recently? lol.. Check the Ram sticks inside, they may be loose. Or any connection inside the computer..
