I have a sony vaio laptop windows xp. It had gotten a virus and this guy fixed it by removing everything off of the laptop and i think he removed sound too cause there's no sound at all. It says "no audio device" but when you turn on the laptop it makes the start up sound. And it also says i have no sound card. Please help :(

i belive then theres no sound device in the computer because if theres not sound card then ur going to have to get a new one.
Sounds like he reloaded your operating system to get rid of a virus. Not good unless it is necessary.
If he did this then it seems as if he did not use the recovery procedure from the laptop which would have reinstalled al the drivers. It is therefore possible you do not have a legitimate copy of XP now
If you want to try a recovery then I think that it is accessed on the sony by holding down the ALT key and depressing the F10 key a few times during early load time i.e when sony logo is displayed
It will also be in your user manual
The recovery procedure will remove all of your own data
The other alternative is to go to sony support web site and download the sound driver.

if any questions email
Take it somewhere else and find out the problem. If theres anything fishy about what they tell you, go back to the original place and confront them about it.
