I just got this 42 inch 120hz 1080p led tv. I originally wanted a plasma but wanted 1080p but can't get that in my size. So I got the led. I watch movies in the complete dark. I noticed while watchin lord of the rings it looked fantastic in outdoor parts but when it got dark or they went inside the solid stuff most notably looked fuzzy or sparkly like in some old school movie. I wanted to know why this is?

It's the "backlight setting" that LEDs use. It does something to the black colors that screws with your eyes. That's why I don't like LED TVs. Our Visio is the same way.
Try changing your VIDEO settings, like changing between "games", "sports", "videos", etc., for a better picture (that you like), then tweak the colors and balance.
Before your problem can be diagnosed, I need some additional information:
TV make and model
Source (DVD, BluRay, digital media file)
i've been surfing the web more than three hours today searching for answers to the same question, and I haven't found any interesting debate like this. it's pretty worth enough for me.
