I MAILED my NC tax forms in on 02/05 this year and as of today, I'm still getting a "your return has not been processed" status. Does this mean they have not received it or have just not "processed" it? Anybody else who mailed-in their forms having any better success or any other status results? I'm beginning to fear that it got lost in the mail...

Obviously, if you are getting the message that it hasn't been processed, it HAS BEEN RECEIVED BUT NOT PROCESSED.
When you mail in your returns, instead of doing them on line, it takes longer.
It hasn't been lost. Just at the bottom of the pile.
And did you get your acknowledgment notice from the NC state department of revenue that had RECEIVED your 2013 state income tax return during the 2014 tax filing season and ACCEPTED it to start the processing of your STATE income tax return at that time.
And did you print a copy of that notice at that time during the 2014 tax filing season.
You may need to take your copy of the state income tax return and go to your local state office of revenue and inquire in person face to face just to try and find out if they do have that copy in hand to process it during the 2014 tax filing season.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 03/18/2014
it means it hasn't been processed, that it is not finished and the refund is not ready to go
