Myself and my partner have been living in Australia permanently since the start of 2010. Previously moved to Aus in 2005 and moved back to NZ for work in June 09.
I am currently pregnant and baby is due to be born in March, and we are both working and planning to reside here permanently.
We are wondering what benefits we are entitled to when baby is born, whom we register the birth with (NZ or AU).
From what I understand NZ and AU citizens are able to travel between tthe 2 countries and automatically recieve a SCV? Visa?
But if you arrived after 2001 you must take out permanent residency in order to be eligible for benefits?
Where do we find our permanent residency forms also ad does anybody have any idea on how long it takes for the Visa to be processed?
Would appreciate some help from fellow NZers who have/been going through this same situation!

As you are not Permanent Residents, your child will not be an Australian citizen. You should register the birth in Australia (with BDM in your state of residence) and then apply for New Zealand Citizenship by Descent - a passport can be applied for at the same time.

As SCV holders, you will be eligible for the Baby Bonus, Paid Parental Leave and Family Tax Benefit A provided you meet all of the other conditions for those payments.

It isn't possible to simply fill in a form and pay a fee in order to get Permanent Residency.
You must qualify for skilled immigration in the same way as an applicant from any other country in that you must have qualifications and experience in a highly skilled occupation listed on the SOL (or the ENSOL if you have employer sponsorship); you must pass the points test or have employer sponsorship and must meet health and character requirements. It is somewhat easier for Kiwis to qualify as they are able to gain Australian work experience without needing a work visa; they have more opportunity to find employer sponsorship and can apply onshore for offshore visas, but it is not possible to bypass the listed occupation, qualifications or experience requirements. Applications for permanent visas take between 5-6 months for permanent employer sponsored visas and 2+ years for independent visas.
for the reason that the two father and mom are New Zealand electorate, take toddler with beginning records and all, toddler's passport photos, your evidence of NZ citizenship, and flow to the NZ consulate. sign in the beginning to electorate whilst in another country, and get toddler a passport. Then take toddler & new passport to Aussie immigration and get toddler an Australian visa. sort of visa relies upon on father and mom' visa or social flow to.
