Los Angeles or Anaheim would seem to make the most sense. However, keep in mind that it isn't necessary to cheer for teams that are located the closest. I suggest that you watch every team's games and see which team excites you the most.
Yes, but I don t think it would be wise for the NHL to do that. As for support, probably not. Southern California already has 2 NHL teams there and they don t plan to bring in a third one for San Diego anytime soon at least not to my knowledge. This is not only because they don t have the money for it but because they have no incentive or reason to spend it for a new stadium. That also includes the majority of the other team owners in the league to approve it and I don t think that is going to happen unless they can come up with a good plan to build a stadium for that new team. Also don t forget attendance and team performance both count. If the team s performance is lackluster every year like the NFL Chargers now, and the NBA Clippers from 1978-1984, that will cause attendance to decline and the team to consider a move elsewhere. From what I m hearing and I don t know if it is happening now or will happen soon but the NFL Chargers are probably moving back to LA soon. Basically LA does not have an NFL team and the city is desperate to get one soon. The Padres are unlikely to move anywhere else.
