The round ones seemed to be worse than the square ones. Dont use the same spot every time you put on a new patch.Pick a spot that is less sensitive. By the way a ner product called Smoke Away worked for me better than the patch. It is a nutritional suppliment that takes away most of the cravings. You will feel less interested in smoking than you thought possible. You can find it at most drug stores.
Nicotine patches always gave me some redness that felt hot, but it was bearable. My co-worker, though, had it way worse than me and had to stop using them. Since then they have come out with the lozenge, which I have used and it is wonderful, and easy to use. The only problem is to remember to use one before you need it, or you'll want to grab a smoke.
Absolutely! itching is one of first side effects listed on the box. Put the patch in a different spot everyday. Also, it will itch/burn the most if applied after a hot shower, try to wait 15-30 minutes before applying after a shower if possible.

I had the same problem, but it wasn't the medication. It was the adhesive tape. I get welts from band-aides too. You need to switch to gum or a pill.
Take nicotine gum. o.O if u already tried it try chewing toothpicks.
