Hi folks-In a couple weeks I'm going to see the doctor and let him know about my OCD. I was wondering however if you think that improving my diet could help. Diets and nutrition can have affects on our minds so I was wondering if there is any food in particular that would be beneficial to the brain of someone who has OCD.
I know that there's no certain food that cures OCD, but I'm just looking for something that could help, even just a little tiny winy bit. I might be fooling myself, but I feel that dark chocolate for example has helped me, or even vanilla latte's,
I feel that the faster my mind is, (the less relaxed), the more I can focus on other things, and not my OCDness.
Thank you,
George

I deal with anxiety issues, panic attacks, and OCD. So I understand where you are coming from. I am a vegan, and I find that a lack of protein severely effects my anxiety.
If I were you, I would attempt to eat a balanced and healthy diet. It can do a lot to ease anxiety, which in turn will help with your OCD. Attempt to eat fresh foods, and avoid sodas and meats.
Some protein-heavy, yet healthy, foods are: Silk Brand Soymilk, Nuts, and Tofu. And if you eat boxed foods, try Amy's Brand Organic stuff. All of the above mentioned items should be available at any major grocery store. Check the label for protein content, and make sure you get enough.
Just so you know, you should eat half your body-weight in grams of protein daily.
Hope that helps!
This question jumped out to me. I just want to advise you to be very careful with diet. When one is OCD they have a natural tendency that can lead to bulimia and anorexia. Now I know what you meant with your question had nothing to do with losing weight...It just set of big caution alarms. Any new regime can cause issues for someone with OCD. ( I have several family members who suffer with it.)
However, a few have had some relief by adding certain teas to their diets. Catnip tea....Believe it or not this has the opposite affect on humans and can soothe, calm and allow you to focus. Any tea with tangerine and orange as well in the morning... and peppermint at night.
Best of luck!
check into the Blood Type Diet. I've seen a friend of mine's kid turn his behavior around drastically after being put on this diet. They're may have been other variables, but he was a pretty naughty little sucker and is much improved. You gotta find out your Blood Type and then you can see the foods which are best for you....
