x - 1/4 + 1/9 + 1/4 + 7*sq r of x = 56
what can be understood by the wording of this problem is ---
1. 1/4 of total are in Lotus plants.
2. (1/9 +1/4 + 7*sqrt of) total nos are moving on Hill.
3. 56 birds in valuka trees.
Let us now assume total No. of birds as "x"
So our equation becomes as --- x/4+(x/9 +x/4 + 7*sqrt x) + 56 = x
=> 11/18x + 7*sqrt x + 56 = x
=>7*sqrt x - 7/18x + 56 = 0 which then simplifies to --- 18*sqrt x - x + 144 = 0 hence
18*sqrt x = x - 144 Squaring both sides & simplifying we get x^2 - 612x + (144)^2 = 0
Solving this quadratic equation we have roots as x= [(612+/- sqrt(612^2 - 4 * 144^2)]/2
The roots are == 576 and 36 The second being less than 56 we go for "576 " - The answer.
