My 4-5 year old parakeet suddenly died, we dont know why..
He was fine yesterday..
We found him at the bottom of his cage, and there was blood/guts like out his back end, and it was a really ugly sight, but, nothing could have killed him! He has a enclosed cage, and nothing inside it could have hurt him.
Although, and we've been doing this for about a few months, where we put news paper in the bottom of his cage, and he liked to tear it up and play around in it..but I dont think thats the cause..
What could have happend!?

Sorry to hear about your bird. Could have been a female and she could have been egg bound in which case the egg gets stuck in vent and cannot pass making her strain and then it prolapses her vent and insides. Could have been other things if a male bird. But whatever it is something made his insides come out. Tumor, disease, many illnesses. Talk to vet or take to vet for proper answer. Sorry again.
well, four to five years old is an averge age for budgie. There is a very good chance that he was just old and did not have good nutrition. If the bird was a girl and you didn't know, she could have been egg bound. I am very sorry about your loss =( i wish you the best of luck . Just remember your bird loved you and will never forget what a good owner you were to him and wha a good friend you were.Once agian i am very sorry =( rest in peace birdy
birds are VERY good at hiding their illness until it's to late. The thing I can imagine is him having a night fright *birds suddenly freaks and loses control, falls off perch, flaps like crazy, usually snaps neck and dies.* however this usually happens in cockatiels. I have seen it in my cockatiel when she outside her cage. It so sad cause she goes in a trance and I have to hold her against me until she calms down.
Also it could have been lice? Mites? worms? I'm not sure. If you REALLY wanna know I would take him to a avian vet and have the vet look over him. However its really sad when you realize you could have prevented it =(
Oh,my. I am very sorry for your loss. That is a big mystery. And I am not answering this Q just 2 get the points, I do feel sorry 4 u.
