Firstly I would ask you to be really really honest and admit why you want to pierce your tongue?

Besides being an organ of several specialized muscles, why would you want to put a spear and then a barbell through your tongue?

Other than watching people incessantly play with the thing, I don't think it does much other than just sit there running through the middle of your tongue.

Yes, I have seen many broken teeth as a result of tongue rings from your front teeth all the way back to your molars. Biting down on a hard piece of metal can do that to teeth. I think fractures can be lessened in number by using plastic ends, but tooth fractures can still happen.

Don't get it because your friends have them and they think they are cool. Don't be a sheep and just follow. And don't get it because you think or have heard that oral sex will be better for your partner, because I think that is just a myth.

Tongue piercings can break teeth, and you can get a nasty tongue infection by doing it.

If you have a good reason for wanting one, well then go for it!

after you get it done you ae advised not to smoke and use antibacterial mouth wash for the next week or so, yes that means bring moutwash with you in a bottle!

The metal ball will chip on ur teeth, you tounge will swell up massive, the chance or bleeding or the chance of blood poisoning, the chance of gettin a lisp, that metal ball hitting you teeth, biting down on it accidentally!

Not sure of the dangers...but i've heard you can bleed to death if they get one of the veins (don't quote me on that though...could be a rumour!) I quite like the look of them, just not when people mess about with 'em all the time! My ex had his tongue pierced and it was fine for kissing...he did talk not with a lisp but there was something there...bit different like. But if you want it doing...go for it. If you have ANY doubts then don't do it :)

My friend got her piercing a few years ago.

I notice that she now talks with a lisp and it sometimes clinks off of her teeth but that could just be because of the style and size. My only issue with them is when I see people bringing it forward so that the ball sticks out between their lips and their always playing with it.....that's not a good look. :)

it is not dangerous and doesn't cause damage.

its sore for the first week but lots of ice lollies and ice to get swelling get down.

there are many hazards like dead deer tongue which is when your tongue gets a virus from the piercing and eventually breaks down the muscles in your tongue making it basically dead. don't freak out though. there are many people that have tongue peircings and like it. its up to you though
