Porsche 911 1976 wont start?

hey my 1976 911 s wont start, it turns over so the fuel pump must work. i looked in the trunk and found a red wire disconnected. the wire splits off the positive but i don't know where it goes. do you think my car not starting has anything to do with this? this car has a new fuel pump, fuel accumulator, distributor, and injection system. the power in the car works but its almost like there no fire. after going at it it smells like gas. CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE
