He'll be fine. The vet will give you the medicine to worm him properly. Besides that he will also check for tapeworms, whipworms and hookworms. These are worms that the OTC wormers won't touch. A word of caution though.....you will see the worms when he gets the wormer. It's REALLY gross! So just know that's coming. Your puppy will feel lots better though. He'll get his shots then too.
Good Luck!
He should be ok until your appointment. Just make sure to wash your hands after handling the puppy and keep his poop picked up, so your yard doesn't get contaminated.
Worming can be done a few different ways, depending on what type of worms the dog has. The vet may give your puppy a liquid, oral wormer in a syringe. You might be sent home with some tablets. It can also be done with an injection. It just depends on what wormers your vet has and what type of worms the puppy has.
Take a fecal sample to the vet during the week & they can analyze it. If you see another worm, make sure to take it with the sample.
The only problem with this you may run into is if the office does not have a current doctor-patient-client relationship. They would not be able to Rx any medication for him in that situation. However, if they've already seen him and there are ova present in his stool, then they should be ok about sending you medication until his appointment.
Almost ALL dogs have roundowrms. I guarantee you your do to. All dogs have to be wormed. Take them to the vet for worming, assess up, and vaccines. ALL those are indispensable! Roundworms can also be transmitted to individuals. Get them looked after ASAP!
Worms are not that big of a deal unless you do not get it treated at all. Your puppy will be fine til Saturday and your vet will give your pup de-worming meds.
Take your dog in, they'll give you a couple of pills called cestex to give to your animal over a period of time, should clear the problem up fine, they're probably gonna want to take a fecal sample to make sure that that's all he has going on in there it's common to see hookworms and tapeworms in the same fecal samples as rounds, anyways hope this helps.
He needs to be wormed, that's it.. If he hasn't been wormed yet, have you gotten his vaccinations??? Might want to do that too when you go on Saturday.
