I just adopted a 3yr old, male, Min. Schnauzer 2 days ago.
He is recently neutered (surgery was 2 days ago too)
I was told not to bathe him or have him do rigorous tasks. so i have only taken him out to pee.
on the first day, his stool was brown and 'sturdy' (?) when i began feeding him it changed to a soft mustard yellow color-more liquidy than when i first got him.
He is mostly sleepy throughout the day
sometimes he gets up, opens his mouth and vomits a bit. mostly he doesn't get to spit it out.
i am really worried about him, i am scared :[
could it be a health problem?, the change in his diet? (i don't know what they fed him at the shelter), his surgery?

you should speak with a vet to be certain. It is probably a bit of everything - food switch, surgery, aftereffects & stress of being in a new home. It normally takes 1,2 days for a puppy to recover & 2,3 days for an adult dog to recover from being put under. They normally don't hardly eat or drink & tired & nauseous. Food switch w/o doing it slowly would account for diarrhea & color or stress. Still speak to a vet to be certain he doesn't need additional care/treatment.
i would contact the shelter and ask about which vaccinations he's had (if you don't already know) ask about the parvo vaccine. if he starts having blood in his stool or vomits more than once during the day, i would have a vet check him out. this could just be the food change, as dogs get diarrhea when you change their food, but if it's worrying you, i would call to ask a vet's opinion. you may want to have him health checked anyway to make sure he's healthy.
He probably ate something that is causing these problems. You need to get in touch with a vet ASAP. Large amounts of blood in the stool sounds like your dog could be/is in serious danger. ASAP
