is there anyone out there who can help me overcome my problem of stage fright? what did you do? how did you overcome it? any tips? im so scared and shaky when i get up in front of people! HELP ME!
This is not an easy one! Unfortunately the only thing i think you can do to get over stage fright is just to get out there and do it. Realize that there will be no disastrous outcome even if you stumble. Remember that everyone has everyone has stumbled in public speaking and you just have to keep going.
Once during a school play the person i was playing opposite messed up his line .. which messed me up .. and we ended up skipping 12 pages of the play because of the way i handled the other person's flub. It was very embarrassing .. but .. i cant remember the last time i thought about it until just now.
So .. just practice practice practice! If you have a part you notoriously mess up on ... make a small note in your hand so that you can discretely look down and have a tip on where to pick up and go again.
Above all .. dont try to pretend that everyone in the audience is in their underwear .. i never understood THAT advice! It doesnt work and .. who cares if they are in their underwear anyway .. that doesnt change anything ! Lol
ANother tip .. even though you're super nervous .. volunteer to go FIRST. That way you can get it right over with. The longer you sit and fret about it .. the more nervous you will be when its finally your turn up!
I don't know that how I fixed it would work for everyone but this is what I did. At first, I didn't actually look at anyone in the audience. I looked just over their heads at the back wall. Also, I thought about how people with stage fright look and sound and resolved to do differently. No ums, and uhs, when I was speaking, and sang out strong when I was singing. I just sort of resolved to be better than that. I suppose I let my pride help me out.
A little nervousness is helpful. The only time stage fright needs to be handled is when it cripples you. If you are still able to get on stage and perform, then only experience and practice will decrease your anxiety. The more you perform, the more experience and the better you will become. Don't be afraid or discouraged when you make some mistakes. All mistakes are is lessons on how to improve.
I've always had stage fright. For as long as I can remember. It is not any better now that I am 36 years old. I still have to get up in front of people though.
My grandfather once told me two things that make it possible for me to 'just do it'. One you might of heard before, cause I have heard it from others as well. Courage is not the absence of fear, courage is doing what you need to do despite fear. Second, he told me I was stronger than I realized 'right here'. He was pointing at my heart.

Look at a friend and pretend shes the only one there and sing to her!

Pretend there is no one there and forget the audience
