no, the "premium" system does not have any value other than the fact taht it looks cool and you can put screen savers on it.
you can purchase and have installed an aftermarket system that is far superior to anything you get from the factory at a lower cost. the scion tc head unit is a very limited design with equalizer modes as opposed to an adjustable equalizer.
an aftermarket head unit hooked up to your stock speakers will sound much better than your factory (premium) head unit connected to your stock speakers.
don't take my word for it though, listen to your favorite music in the dealer's test drive model and then listen to music in a scion with an aftermarket system (if you can find one).
if you check out scionlife.com you should be able to find a meet up in your area where you can get a sample of what a scion sound system has the potential to be.
the tC's stock Pioneer stereo gets full iPod integration (track info, etc is displayed on the head unit's screen, and music can be controlled from the stereo or steering-wheel-mounted controls), and a premium Pioneer unit offers a degree of customization via downloadable skins. Above that, an optional nav system is available for the first time.
I got the Scion TC integrated Ipod system and I love it! Also the Bazooka, but that was just 'cause I was lazy and didn't want to go to a stereo store. It sounds good, I like it, but I am not a stereo freak like some people out there.
I used the back section panel as a mildew and made my own sub enclosure for a JL 12" and under the sub is a shelf that has my amp enclosed. It saved my trunk area and additionally left my trunk staring on the brink of it did when I have been given it. It sounds stunning and grew to become into straight forward to make.
