This could be an ulcer. stress is a damaging condition, I would say change of Diet is needed here. start drinking pineapple juice pure. I always use this at the first start of pain or discomfort and it settles in minutes. I would see a doctor just in case there is a colon problem . this is very painful and can kill if not treated fast.

But hopefully just bad diet and stress which means a change of life-stile and plenty of water at least 1 and a half liters over2 pints of water. cut down on coffee and black tea.

If the pain is so bad its bringing tears to his eyes he needs to go to the doc immediately! Obviously something is very wrong.

follow aboves advice, go to an ER and see if its appendicitis if its that bad. And no stress wouldn't come close to causes this sort of pain.

it sounds like gall bladder trouble i would see what other symptoms he is having but it could be stress related or just a gas pain
