shawn michaels is overrated in my opinion and he isnt that good of a wrestler a lot of people make him out to be. i respect the man so much but he is a entertainer not a wrestler. shawn michaels brawled his whole career and he did a little technical wrestling and some higflying moves but thats it. the undertaker is at his best now in my opinion and him and shawn michaels are like the same age. shawn michaels now isnt that good and the undertaker is better then ever. the undertaker is the better wrestler. he brawls, does submission skills,he is a powerhouse and does mat wrestling.
hbk has been thu more. taker just has a better gimmmic and wheres more make up. as 4 hbk he has stuggled to be on top and has had gruling back surgeries and taker never had anything that severe. also hbk is more high flying and i like that. taker has a slow pace and the exiting part of his matches only happen toward the end when he finaly hits the tombstone and does his pose. AS always
I would say that The Undertaker has done a fine job of putting others over. What you have to remember is that he can only do so much to make the other guy, no matter who it is, look good. It isn’t The Undertaker’s fault that none of those guys could capitalize on what he did for them.
Take Vladimir Kozlov for example. The Undertaker made him look like a real powerhouse. Every time they met in the ring, Kozlov beat the living hell out of him. Even though Kozlov beat a ton of guys before and after he faced The Undertaker, it was against the deadman that Kozlov ascended to the main event and into the title picture with Triple H.
Think about it. The Undertaker, with one of the most storied and revered careers in the history of the business, put over a brand new guy with a bad, re-hashed Goldberg gimmick over multiple times. He sold for him on everything and let Kozlov get in a TON of offence. It was because of that feud with The Undertaker that the fans bought Kozlov as a main event calibre wrestler. What Kozlov did after he and The Undertaker finished working together, and as badly as he faded away, wasn’t The Undertaker’s fault at all. It may have been Kozlov’s fault, or the blame may lie with Vince and the booking team, but it certainly doesn’t lie with The Undertaker. He did absolutely everything he could for Kozlov.
The same goes for Kennedy. Yes, his career didn’t pan out, but that didn’t have anything to do with The Undertaker. Their feud was years before Kennedy encountered all his injury problems and his subsequant release. Just because a guy screws up later in his career or years down the road doesn’t make his eventual failure the fault of The Undertaker, or any other guy he worked with for that matter. Back when Kennedy was running with that “defeated five former world champions” gimmick, he was one of the best up and coming rising stars WWE had, and I don’t think there were many that didn’t have him pegged as a future world champion himself.
The Undertaker, despite working a dominant gimmick at or near the top of the card for virtually his entire career, has always done a superb job of making not only himself, but whoever he’s working with as well look amazing.
I think Cena, Orton, Batista, and Edge have all benefited from their matches and feuds with The Undertaker. I remember the early days of Cena on Smackdown when he started his “Battle Rapping” with superstars and He had “Disrespected” The Undertaker Cena’s early matches with The Phenom and eventually getting the pin fall victory on him prepared Cena for the future of his career eventually becoming U.S. Champ and eventually WWE Champion.
Would there have been an Age of Orton if Randy would have dropped the ball in his feud against The Undertaker starting at Wrestlemania 21? Arguably he could have but I do believe he couldn’t have claimed to be “The Legend Killer” without going one on one with The Deadman. Could Batista ever be considered a legit heavyweight champion or contender without His wrestlemania 23 match with Taker and continuing feud over the world title and his Win over the Deadman at Cyber Sunday in ‘07? What about his 2008 feud with Edge that showed everyone just how damn good The Rated R Superstar can be.
Let’s go back to towards the end of the Attitude Era with the likes of Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Booker T, RVD, and Brock Lesnar. Taker has faced all of these men and respectively lost to them in some form or another. The Undertaker and Kurt Angle had a great series of matches before Angle’s departure from WWE. There isn’t one main event superstar today that hasn’t benefited from getting in the squared circle with The Undertaker.
Undertaker has often feuded with mid-carders like the big giants and helped them receive a lot of attention and popularity. A lot of characters like Kane could be created through him. A lot of people received popularity by attacking him at the start of their careers (right from Giant Gonzales in the early 1990s to Mankind/ Kane in the mid 1990s to Khali/ Mark Henry in the 2000s). He has created a lot of main-event level rivalries which were not even around the title, and given good matches with just about anybody. Undertaker is the most respected wrestler back-stage. He also the locker-room leader and helps resolve a lot of issues, disputes and mentors the younger stars. That is also one of the reasons why Undertaker was drafted to Smackdown, so that he could single-handedly lead the new brand and mentor the new wrestlers on that brand. Undertaker’s passion for this business and the respect which he has in that locker-room is unparalleled, as per back-stage interviews from all WWE employees starting from Jim Ross to all superstars themselves right from Bret Hart to Kurt Angle to Chris Jericho to Edge and John Cena.
THANKS!, FOR THAT COMPLIMENT, BUT VINCE PLANS ON ENDING MY STEAK, SO INSTEAD OF 18-0...I`LL PROBABLY BE 17-1. HOPEFULLY HE CHANGES HIS MIND!.....ME AND SHAWN PERSONALLY ARE GOOD FRIENDS OUTSIDE THE RING AND THERE IS NO DO UT THAT MAN HAS TALENT, AS THE SHOW STOPPER!....I SPOKE TO A LOT OF FANS, AND IF THEY END MY STREAK, MOST OF THEM SAID THEY`LL STOP WATCHING WRESTLING FOR EVER!
