So I'm leaving Australia to study in Oregon for Spring semester on an exchange program in 2013, and I wanted to first do some holidaying for a week or so before I head to college on the 26th March.
I then realised that this is spring break time for many colleges (http://www.azspringbreak.com/schedule.html). My main concern, as I have never traveled solo before, is that I will easily be able to meet people, so I thought going to a spring break destination would be a good choice.
What spring break destinations are there, looking around Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, California, etc ?
Is being underage a big problem? (I'll be 20)
Do spring break destinations normally have additional events organised?
The only place that I have found that seems to be properly supported is Lake Havasu, AZ. However, that seems to have a few problems such as corrupt cops.

where ever you decide to go just remember, WE TIP HERE IN AMERICA. sorry but i used to work in a bar in hawaii and Australians used to come all the time and rarely leave tips. then they would wonder why they weren't getting good service. if you are looking for a place where it is easy to make friends try San Francisco California. people there are easier to get to know than most places.
as far as being under age goes, if your trying to get into bars that is pretty much the same anywhere in this country. that is a lot of the reason i suggest San Francisco because there is a lot to do for underage people there.
