My sound card does not always power up. I may have to reboot several times before the sound card powers up. I have the current driver and can't find any evidence of conflicts. Any suggestions for why this is happining would be appreciated.

that wouldn't be your sound card problem. it would be your speaker problem. if you think it is your sound card problem you can adjust which sound card to use in your sound/speaker options.
Try the card in another slot if it is not an embed sound device.
If you move the card and still have problems then I would susppect the card has or is about to fail.
If the card doesn't have any problems once you move it then the slot on the motherboard has failed, consider replacing the motherboard in the near future, it will fail completly over time.
If it is an embeded device, consider replacing your motherboard, it is failing.
