I have sneaked lamb up on people without telling them what we are having for dinner. Just "meat"! Ok, so!

How about potato soup rich with cheese and some canadien bacon pieces floating in it with corn bread sticks?

I could eat the potato soup and cornbread any day of the year!

I will be having roast beast! with onions! Not a potato on the whole ranch! Ok, so it will be a lovely rump roast. That is what is on top.in my freezer.

Then we will have steamed broccoli and cauliflower. You might put some baby carrots for color in yours and toss some butter on top! Chives and parsley for extra flavor if you wish.

A great green salad with cucumbers, tomato wedges, pepper rings, purple onion rings, and a great dressing would finish off the meal here! If always supposing I had been to the grocery store in the past 2 weeks!

So I won't be having the salad with the roast and veggies! Ah! Well! At least we have food in the house and no one is starving!

Contrary to popular belief, the Irish do eat lots of things besides cabbage and corned beef or lamb.

Salmon or trout are favorites as well as ham, pork sausage, pigs feet (trotters) chicken and fresh vegetables.

Make a loaf of Irish soda bread, drink some Guinness or Bailey's and enjoy!

Easy Irish Whiskey Cake (for the adults)

Ingredients: 1 yellow cake mix

1 small package instant vanilla pudding mix

4 eggs

1/2 cup Irish Whisky

1/2 cup cold water

3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Glaze: 1 stick butter

1/4 cup water

1-1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup- 1 cup Irish Whisky

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Grease and flour a bundt or tube pan. Sprinkle nuts over bottom of pan.

Combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 1 hour.

Cool; Invert onto plate. Prick holes in cake, drizzle glaze over top and sides, allowing it to be absorbed into cake.

Continue until all glaze is used.

Glaze:

Melt butter in saucepan. Add water and sugar. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in whisky. Pour over cake as directed above.

haha good luck... the Irish dont really eat anything other than what you mentioned and potatoes... try making some Italian dishes.
