HELLO i'm reading Sophies World and im getting super confused :( they are talming about how St.Augustine was the "first philosopher we have come across to draw history into his philosophy" , i dont exactly underatand what they mean by it
Can anyone explain this part of the paragrapgh
"God needs all history in order to realize his Kingdom of God. History is necessary for the enlightment of man and the destruction of evil."

What that sentence is referring to is the fact that god uses history to show man the folly of his ways. through garden of eden, to the flood, to tower of babel, all the way to the persecution of jesus. there are lessons to be learned, and as hard headed as man is, we CAN learn from our mistakes, it is not impossible.
