I have an online OWL homework asking this question, and i think i know the answer, but i am just no submitting it the correct way. The question asks to show the product, INCLUDING STEREOCHEMISTRY, of 1,2-epoxybutane with
Na+ -CN, H2O. I think that the CN would bond to the #1 C and the OH would be on the #2 C. How would i show the correct stereocehemistry? The program depicts bonds 1-dimensionally, but you can change a bond to allow it to be pointing toward you or away (3-d)

The two isomers are mirror images of one another. Another way to imagine it is by comparing a right hand glove and left hand glove.
the carbon bonded to hydroxyl group will be an asymetric center.
as that center is unchanged by the sn2 reaction, its relative stereochemistry will be the same as the reactant.
H2O is water
