Strained muscle in lower back?

Ok, so a little over a week ago, I strained a lower back muscle I think. I'm not sure if that's it or if its a pinched nerve or something. I was just wondering how long they usually last and how I can get rid of it. I've been icing it and taking ibuprofen and stretching a little. I walked all weekend and it made it feel somewhat better but then it went back to the way it was. At first when I did it, it hurt really bad to where I could barely move certain ways, but now it's just when I lean up from in bed, look down at my phone, or turn left or right. It's not in my spine I don't think, because its off to the left a little. Sometimes when I lay in bed or sit in a chair, it just aches a little, like a sore, tired feeling of the muscle or something. I'm in judo, which is a fairly dangerous compact sport where I am, and I haven't been for a month because my senseis have been on vacation. Tomorrow is my first day back, and I really want and need to go, because I hear if you move around and get exercise, it will loosen the tight muscle and eventually feel better, but then again I don't want to push myself to where it will hurt my back worse or possibly permanently. So I need advice on what I should do, or how long I should wait until I really need to see a doctor. Thanks.
