My 4 year old son started talking with he was 2 and talked very clear from an early age. In the past 2 weeks, he stopped using the r sound and mashing his words together. I talked to his preschool teacher and she said there is a kid he started hanging out with that has a lisp and she thinks that is why he is talking this way. How do I get my kid to stop? I can't understand him.

kids learn from other kids... he's in preschool and thats what he's doing... relax- it will be ok and he'll get tired of it... just make sure that at home you reinforce his proper speech...
Play games that involve him copying the words YOU say. Kids learn from the people around them; so you have to try and be a larger part of his cues for speech, than his new friend is. The more he talks with you and hears you properly making R sounds, the better. Encourage him to say words with R in them; don't yell at him if he doesn't, just don't tell him he's got it right until he actually has.
You can also consider asking the teacher to try and get the two of them to play with more kids at once, so your son isn't always with his new friend only.
Well thank goodness there is a logical explanation to his speech change. Your question worried me at first. I've noticed when I'm around people a lot I start to talk like them. Hopefully, he will grow out of it, if not, you may need to ask his pediatrician or consider a speech therapist.
Ask him if he is mimicking the other child. If he is then just tell him the other child has a speech problem, that he needs to stop.
