So, I've just read The Stranger by Albert Camus and I'm trying to figure out what the main character had.
It's similar to Schizoid Personality Disorder but isn't quite it..
The guy lacks emotion and feels no intimacy for his mother or fiancee. He does go out with friends but is withdrawn.
Also, he only seems to focus on physical aspects of himself - If he is tired or hungry.
He can't assess how he was feeling at a certain time..
What do you think he has?

I read it awhile ago but I never really thought he 'had' anything, like a mental disorder or whatever, although that's just my view. I interpreted it as simply that his mother's death had actually hit him pretty hard but that he was kind of repressing those emotions. I guess I thought it was pretty sad, because hasn't everyone done that to some degree? Ignoring emotions after something bad happens and just getting on with living physically in order to block out the pain that is there, somewhere or other.
I don't know. That's just my interpretation, and people might read this and think 'wtf she is so off', but I guess it just depends on the way you look at it.
